THREE MO’ TENORS gets commercial run

By David Rooney

After playing regional dates across the country and abroad, vocal showcase “Three Mo’ Tenors” will get a New York commercial run at Off Broadway’s Little Shubert Theater, opening Sept. 27.

Conceived, directed and choreographed by Marion J. Caffey and produced by Willette Murphy Klausner, the show is an African-American reworking of the internationally successful “Three Tenors” format. New York staging will preview from Sept. 12.

The production enlists six tenors rotating three per performance, singing a range of musical styles from opera, Broadway, jazz, blues, gospel and soul. The show was broadcast as part of PBS’ “Great Performances” series and was recorded by RCA.

Cast for the Little Shubert run includes Kenneth Alston, James N. Berger Jr., Ramone Diggs, Duane A. Moody, Victor Roberson and Phumzile Sojola.
